We were delighted to welcome close to 40 attendee’s at our annual Study Day last November held at the Carmelite Centre, Whitefriar Street, Dublin.
The theme of the day was CORU: Finding our way in a new land.
The theme was set to invite thoughts, commentary and associations to what it will be like for IGAS as a body and also us all individually to grapple with the impending statutory registration process with CORU.
At the outset, the IGAS Events Committee offered their individual associations to the theme of the day to generate and stimulate conversation, a space to communicate in group about this seemingly prosaic yet pressing topic.
A lively discussion within the following Large Group ensued as to the meaning that lies within CORU. We broke into small group reflection spaces and then had time to connect in-person with colleagues and friends for the first time, without public health guidelines, in 3 years. That felt invigorating.
After this nourishment, Ali Curran and Mick Fahy presented such insightful and thought provoking commentary on the potential impact of CORU on group analysis as it is practised in applied settings. Mary Logue presented vital material pertaining to IGAS seat at the Irish Council for Psychotherapy table and what the pathway group analysts will have to navigate collectively and individually.
A lot to ponder and food for further conversations with the group resonance to what emerged in the matrix of the day.
As for the year ahead, the Events Committee is planning a Connectedness meeting for Saturday 1st April. We will have further details anon. We are also planning to hold the Study Day outside Dublin this November. We will communicate with the community when we have further information on this”.
Kind regards
Stephen McBride
