Membership qualifications and CPD requirements

To become a clinically accredited member of IGAS, applicants must have completed full professional training in psychotherapy, recognised by the Irish Council for Psychotherapy (ICP).

To maintain membership, clinically accredited members must complete an average of 50 hours of CPD each year, amounting to a total of 250 hours over every five-year period. This ensures members remain up to date with advancements in group analytic psychotherapy and maintain the highest professional standards.

Insurance for accredited members

All applicants for membership accreditation must show that they have adequate insurance for their work as a psychotherapist/group analytic psychotherapist. Since March 2020, the insurance should cover working online and working remotely with clients.
